Overview
The layout opens with a full-bleed hero section: a real interior photograph drawn through a 68% dark overlay over the #16120e near-black ground, so the room's warmth bleeds through without competing with the type hierarchy. The breadcrumb sits in 13px Jost at 3px letter-spacing, establishing the uppercase label language before the H1 "Selected projects" lands at 56px Cormorant Garamond weight 300 (wide, unhurried, deliberate). A 19px standfirst capped at 600px maxWidth anchors to the left edge rather than centering, which reads more like an editorial publication than a web template. On mobile the section compresses from 120px to 64px vertical padding without reflow.
The projects section is the structural core. A horizontal flex header pairs a two-line H4/H2 stack on the left ("Recent work" / "Five projects, five different briefs") with a ghost-border CTA on the right, aligned to flex-end so the button baseline meets the headline baseline. Below sits a two-column CSS grid (Divi Group, display: grid) where the lead project spans the full width at a 2:1 landscape ratio, followed by four supporting cards at 4:3. Each card carries an H3 in 22px Cormorant Garamond and a category badge (a 1px #3a3127 border pill in 12px Jost uppercase) that names the room type or scope without cluttering the thumbnail. On phones the grid collapses to a single column and image proportions hold through the enforced aspect-ratio constraint.
The third section shifts register to a "Details" gallery built from three equal Divi columns, each holding two stacked images at alternating aspect ratios (4:5 and 4:3 in different orders per column). The ratio variation creates the staggered-height rhythm you would normally achieve with JavaScript masonry, but here it is entirely native CSS inside Divi Groups with no custom code. The section header runs across an asymmetric 14/24 + 10/24 row split: most of the visual weight falls left on the H2 ("The small things that carry a room"), while the right column carries quieter body copy in 17px Jost taupe (#b3a794), a classic editorial move that gives the gallery space to breathe.
The page closes on a warm-gold CTA section (#c8a46a), the only departure from the near-black palette and a deliberate one: after three dark sections, the colour shift registers immediately without any animation. The H2 ("Have a house that needs this kind of attention?") sits left at 48px Cormorant Garamond; a filled dark button ("Book a consultation") plus a 14px scarcity note stack on the right. The block switches to a single column on mobile, preserving the heading-then-CTA reading order throughout.
What’s inside
- Full-bleed hero with background image, 68% dark gradient overlay, H1 in 56px Cormorant Garamond weight 300, and a left-anchored 600px-capped standfirst
- Two-column CSS grid project index built with a native Divi Group: the lead card spans both columns at a 2:1 landscape ratio, followed by four 4:3 cards in pairs
- Per-project category badges (1px border pill, 12px Jost uppercase, 3px tracking) that label room type or scope alongside each H3 project title
- Ghost-border secondary CTA ("Start your project") aligned to flex-end alongside the projects section headline, no fill, 1px solid #f3ece0
- Three-column masonry-style details gallery: each column holds two stacked images at alternating 4:5 and 4:3 aspect ratios, producing height offsets entirely through native Divi Group layout with no JavaScript
- Asymmetric editorial split header (14/24 + 10/24 columns) pairing an H4 label and H2 display heading on the left with a quieter body paragraph on the right
- Warm-gold accent CTA section (#c8a46a) with a filled dark button and a single-line scarcity note, switching to a stacked column on mobile
- Full responsive cascade: stepped padding (160px desktop, 112px tablet, 72px phone), font-size breakpoints on every heading, and single-column reflow for both the project grid and the CTA row
Who it’s for
This layout is a direct fit for interior design studios, residential architects, and bespoke renovation consultancies that want a projects page to read like a portfolio publication rather than a marketing site. Boutique hospitality brands (small hotels, guest houses, serviced apartments) can use the same structure to present completed spaces to prospective guests or investors. High-end real estate developers showcasing show-home interiors, furniture retailers building a lookbook-style presence, and stylists photographing material details will all find the mosaic gallery section directly reusable. Because the layout covers residential rooms, commercial hospitality, and material close-ups in a single structure, it adapts to almost any premium interiors brief without a structural rebuild.
Customization tips
The palette runs on two variables: replace #16120e (the near-black section backgrounds) in Divi's global colour presets and all three dark sections update at once; replace #c8a46a and the CTA block shifts to any accent colour you prefer. The warm cream #f3ece0 used for headings and the taupe #b3a794 used for labels are calibrated against the dark ground, so if you switch to a light background, shift those toward a charcoal value to maintain readable contrast.
For the hero image, use a horizontal interior shot at 1920px wide minimum. The 68% gradient overlay handles moderate variation in brightness, but low-contrast or heavily shadowed rooms read cleanest. Project card images should be cropped to 4:3 before uploading (the aspect-ratio constraint enforces the frame but will crop awkwardly from a portrait source). The full-width lead card expects a 2:1 landscape crop. Project titles work best at two to four words; category badge text is set at 12px and should stay under 30 characters. The CTA heading is 48px at desktop and holds up to 10 to 12 words before wrapping past two lines.

Questions about Halden Row Interiors — Luxe Interior_design Projects Page for Divi 5
The projects section uses a CSS grid. Does that require any custom code in Divi 5?
No. The two-column grid and the full-width spanning lead card are both configured through Divi Group's native layout decoration settings (display: grid, gridColumnCount, gridColumnSpan). Everything is built inside the visual builder without any custom CSS or PHP snippets.
How does the Details gallery create a masonry-style look without JavaScript?
Each of the three Detail columns holds two image modules stacked inside a Divi Group with a flex column layout and 16px rowGap. The alternating aspect ratios (4:5 and 4:3, sequenced differently per column) produce different natural heights, so the column edges step up and down by themselves. There is no scripted reflow involved.
What aspect ratio should my hero background photo be, and does image brightness matter?
Use a landscape interior photo at 1920px minimum width. The section background is set to cover/center, so any 16:9 or wider crop will fill correctly. The gradient overlay applies a flat 68% dark tint across the whole frame, which means bright, mid-tone, and overcast interior shots all work well. Very dark or underexposed rooms may lose detail behind the overlay.
My project images are portrait-oriented. Will they work in the grid cards?
The four supporting cards enforce a 4:3 aspect ratio and the lead card enforces 2:1. Divi will crop portrait images to fit those frames using object-fit: cover. For best results, crop your images to the target ratio before uploading so you control which part of the room stays in frame rather than letting the browser decide.
What native Divi 5 modules does this layout use?
Eight native modules only: Section, Row, Column, Group, Text, Heading, Image, and Button. There are no third-party modules, shortcodes, or custom PHP blocks anywhere in the layout.
Can I add more project cards to the grid, or remove some?
Yes. The grid is a standard Divi Group with display: grid and gridColumnCount: 2. You can add card groups freely. Keep one card set to gridColumnSpan: 2 as your lead feature (the 2:1 landscape image). Additional standard cards should stay at 4:3. The grid handles an even number of standard cards cleanly; an odd number will leave a half-row gap unless you promote one later card to also span two columns.
Which Divi version does this layout need?
Divi 5. The layout is generated natively for Divi 5 and validated against its real module structure before publication, so it imports clean into the current builder.
Can I use this layout on client websites?
Yes. Every download includes a commercial license covering unlimited sites you own or build for clients. Only reselling or redistributing the layout file itself is prohibited.
